Accident, sickness and unemployment protection (ASU) is also often referred to as mortgage payment protection. Such policies offer short term financial assistance when you need it most.
The policy will cover monthly commitments, such as mortgage and loan payments, should you be off work with a long term illness or injury or are made redundant. The policy can be tailored to suit your needs by incorporating just the redundancy element, or the accident and sickness element or any combination of the three.
Typically such policies pay out on a monthly basis, once a successful claim has been made, for between 12 and 24 months.
